Other Hardy & Mediterranean orchids

Spotted or Marsh Orchids are probably the most familiar hardy orchid in the British Isles and a number of the species make excellent and undemanding garden plants. For all, cultivation in pots is generally stress-free for the amateur grower.
Nomenclature is another matter, however. Distinctions between species are often a little foggy and hybridisation can readily occur.

The elegant Bletilla striata, naturally found in E Asia, is an established favourite in British gardens.
Cultivation is usually trouble-free and established plants will bulk up nicely.

Lady's-Tresses, an appropriate name for a delightful plant.
The species grown on our nursery are late-flowering, marginal or bog plants and are generally hardy.

Helleborines are widespread throughout Europe and Asia with further populations in North America. Garden or pot cultivation is relatively easy in most cases.
This family ranges from the quiet and elegant through to the flamboyant.
